Train for a skill and survive the credit crunch

SkillsTrain are advising unskilled British workers to train for a new skill in order to survive the credit crunch.

BEDFORDSHIRE, UK, October 10, 2008 /Web PR News/ -- Skilled workers are far more likely to retain jobs through the global economic gloom, while unskilled British workers will not only be under greatest threat of redundancy, but could find their benefits penalised if plans announced by the government are realised.

Mr. Jan Telensky, whose company SkillsTrain is Europe's leading provider of IT home study courses said "It's essential that British workers keep up with changing technologies and adapt to the changing demands of the workplace by learning new skills.

IT skills in particular are very much in demand, but being complacent is not an option. To compete in the global market it's essential that those working with new technology maintain and advance their training throughout their careers".

Speaking earlier this year, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said "In the coming decades the number of the world's skilled jobs will double. It creates the greatest opportunity for whichever country rises to the education and skills challenge".

He added, "Every adult should have the right to make the most of their potential". Measures to enhance the skills of the British workforce include 'a duty on the unemployed to have their skills needs assessed and to acquire skills', with those refusing to adapt and re-train, finding their benefit payments are penalised accordingly.

Mr. Telensky added, "I'm delighted the government is backing initiatives to encourage British workers to train for skills. Skilled workers are the backbone of the British workforce and training for skills now will stand them in good stead in the future".

SkillsTrain are Europe's leading provider of IT skills training and the company has trained over 6 million students during the past 60 years.
